Closet Circle is built around a simple idea: share more, buy less, and keep your friendships intact.

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply when you use the Closet Circle app and related services (“Closet Circle”, the “App” or the “Service”). By creating an account or using Closet Circle, you agree to these Terms.

In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of Closet Circle.

1. What Closet Circle does

Closet Circle is a digital platform where users can create private groups, share pictures and information about clothing and other items, organise outfits and wardrobes, and arrange to lend and borrow items from people they know.

Closet Circle provides the platform only.

We are not the owner, seller, lender, borrower, custodian, insurer or guarantor of any item shared through the App.

Any agreement to lend or borrow an item is made directly between the users involved.

We do not inspect, verify, value, insure or guarantee any item or any user’s description of an item.

2. The golden rule: return it as you received it ❤️

Closet Circle is about sharing responsibly.

If you borrow something through Closet Circle, you agree to:

• take reasonable and proper care of it;
• use it only in a normal and responsible way;
• follow any specific instructions agreed with the owner;
• not lend it to somebody else without the owner’s permission;
• return it when agreed; and
• return it in at least the same condition in which you received it, allowing only for any ordinary wear that the owner expressly agreed to accept.

3. If you break it, you buy it

Accidents happen. Friendships should survive them.

Unless the lender and borrower agree otherwise, if an item is lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged while in a borrower’s possession or control, the borrower is responsible for making things right with the owner.

Where an item is damaged beyond reasonable repair or is not returned, the basic Closet Circle principle is:

What constitutes appropriate repair, replacement or compensation is a matter between the lender and borrower. Users should take into account the item’s age, condition and reasonable current value rather than automatically assuming the original retail price.

Closet Circle does not determine fault, assess damage or value items, collect compensation, or resolve disputes between users.

4. Check before you lend

Before lending an item, the owner should make sure that its condition is accurately represented.

Before borrowing an item, the borrower should check its condition and raise any existing stains, damage, missing parts or other issues with the owner.

For valuable or particularly loved items, we strongly recommend taking a few clear photographs before handing them over.

And perhaps don’t lend your grandmother’s irreplaceable vintage Chanel unless you’re genuinely comfortable doing so. 😉

5. Your stuff, your decision

You decide what you are comfortable sharing.

By offering an item to another user, you confirm that:

• you own the item or otherwise have the right to lend it;
• lending it does not violate anyone else’s rights;
• the description and photographs you provide are reasonably accurate; and
• the item is reasonably safe and suitable for its intended use.

Closet Circle does not verify ownership or authenticity.

Please don’t list counterfeit, stolen, illegal, dangerous or otherwise prohibited items.

6. Closet Circle does not insure your closet

Unless we expressly state otherwise, items shared through Closet Circle are not insured by Closet Circle.

Users are responsible for determining whether their own insurance covers lending, borrowing, loss, theft or damage.

Do not lend something if you are not prepared to accept the risks involved in lending it to another person.

7. Agreements are between users

Any lending arrangement—including when an item will be collected, how it may be used, whether it should be cleaned, when and how it should be returned, and what happens if something goes wrong—is an agreement between the relevant users.

Closet Circle is not a party to that agreement.

If users make additional arrangements outside the App, those arrangements are also solely between those users.

We encourage everyone to be clear before handing over an item. A 30-second conversation can save a friendship and a silk dress.

8. Cleaning and care

Unless otherwise agreed, borrowers should follow the care instructions attached to an item.

Please do not wash, dry-clean, alter, repair, dye, tailor or otherwise modify an item unless the owner has agreed to it.

If you’re unsure: ask first.

9. Private groups and social features

Closet Circle can also be used simply to organise closets, share outfit inspiration, coordinate what everyone is wearing for a trip or event, or otherwise plan together.

Creating or joining a group does not create any obligation to lend an item.

No one is entitled to your clothes just because they can see them in Closet Circle.

The owner always decides whether an item may be borrowed.

10. User content

You retain ownership of the photographs, descriptions and other content you upload to Closet Circle (“User Content”).

By uploading User Content, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display and technically process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, improve and provide Closet Circle.

You confirm that you have the right to upload your User Content and that it does not unlawfully infringe another person’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights.

You are responsible for what you upload and share.

11. Be nice

Closet Circle is intended to make sharing easier—not friendships harder.

Users must not use the Service to harass, threaten, deceive, impersonate or abuse another person, commit fraud, distribute unlawful material, interfere with the Service, or otherwise use Closet Circle unlawfully.

We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or where necessary to protect Closet Circle or its users.

12. Your account

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and for keeping your login details secure.

Please tell us promptly if you believe somebody has gained unauthorised access to your account.

You must provide accurate information where reasonably required for the Service.

13. Service availability

We hope Closet Circle works beautifully all the time. Technology occasionally has other plans.

We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every device.

We may update, modify, suspend or discontinue features where reasonably necessary, including for security, maintenance, legal or product-development reasons.

14. Our responsibility

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Closet Circle and its owners, directors, employees and affiliates are not responsible for:

• loss, theft, staining, damage or destruction of items lent or borrowed through the Service;
• disagreements or disputes between users;
• the acts or omissions of any user;
• inaccurate descriptions, photographs or information provided by users;
• the quality, authenticity, safety, legality, condition or value of an item;
• personal injury or property damage resulting from an item or its use;
• arrangements made between users;
• indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the Service; or
• losses arising from events outside our reasonable control.

Users lend and borrow items at their own risk.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law, including any mandatory consumer rights.

15. Disputes between users

We sincerely hope this section never becomes relevant.

If a dispute arises regarding an item, users should first try to resolve it directly and reasonably between themselves.

Closet Circle has no obligation to mediate, adjudicate or resolve disputes between users, determine who is responsible, establish an item’s value or enforce payment between users.

We may choose to assist in exceptional circumstances, but doing so does not make us responsible for the dispute or create an obligation to assist in future cases.

Remember the purpose of Closet Circle:

16. Intellectual property

The Closet Circle name, branding, software, design and other content created by us are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Using Closet Circle does not give you ownership of our intellectual property.

You may not copy, reverse engineer, reproduce, commercially exploit or otherwise misuse the Service except where permitted by applicable law.

17. Privacy

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Notice.

Please read the Privacy Notice to understand what information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we introduce new functionality or where legal or regulatory requirements change.

If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable notice where required by law.

Continued use of Closet Circle after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those Terms where permitted by applicable law.

19. Ending your account

You may stop using Closet Circle and delete your account in accordance with the options available in the App.

We may suspend or terminate access where a user materially or repeatedly breaches these Terms, creates risks for other users or the Service, or where we are legally required to do so.

Ending an account does not remove obligations that already arose between users—for example, you still have to return the dress.

20. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without depriving consumers of any mandatory protections they are entitled to under applicable law.

Any dispute between you and Closet Circle will be handled by the courts or other competent dispute-resolution bodies determined under applicable law.
